Journey to Eagle

The largest achievement of a scout's journey is reaching the status of Eagle scout. To get this rank, scout must complete 21 merit badges, all previous ranks (which includes positions of leadership, community service, camping, cooking, nature education, and more), and an Eagle project, which is meant to help the community. 

Over the years, Troop 163 has had the honor of facilitating many impactful Eagle projects. These are the ones that we have had so far:

Built an outdoor turtle pond with a protective enclosure at Gulf Branch.

Organized and led a community clothing drive by advertising, collecting, sorting, and donating clothing.

Built three picnic tables to support an outdoor classroom area at Newington Forest Elementary.

Created sensory carts with stimulation items for special needs students at Chesterbrook Elementary.

Built and rehabilitated a trail water drainage system at Potomac Overlook Regional Park.
